Title of the Poem: The Dark Queen
Kiss and Embrace
by the darkness
Fear and Danger
shone upon the light
Chain upon dark and evil
I will conquer everything
The Eyes of Abaddon
look into my eyes
Darkness shall bewitch you
The Body of Lilith
the bearer of disease and illness
suffering is way better than dying
The Wings of Succubus
the art of seduction
may you live in lust and pleasure
for torment of eternity
The Will of Lucifer
a payment made
the strength and power
to rule over the darkness
I honorably accept the oath
I no longer remember
why I took this path
and one thing is for sure
I never once regret
for I am the
Queen of Darkness

Title of the Poem: THEY
He said it with laughter
His friend laughed and whispered.
They came for him.
They were waiting for him
At his mom’s, his girlfriend’s
He said it with laughter
They didn’t think it funny
And he had to flee
His friend laughed and whispered
He hid in the forest,
Living on the land, when
They came for him.

Title of the Poem: Silent life
Except for the scratching of my pen
I lead a quiet - almost silent life
Here on D Street, the second floor -
In a small, one-bedroom apartment with
Tibetan prayer flags flying on the door.
I overlook a courtyard with trees, cement, and
children playing, heads stuffed with TV dreams.
Across the way folks shop, filling their emptiness -
Hoping, hoping to keep dread death at bay . . .
·
It’s a quiet – almost silent – life I lead
in a second floor walk-up with a tiny kitchen.
Trees rise outside the door, birch, palm
and the raucous crows are taking over.
Still, there are sweet gentle gray doves
and a chickadee or two, maybe three.
Our resident squirrel visits each day
eyeing me through the window from his birch.
·
Such a quiet, tranquil life I lead here
where no bombs drop on aching roofs.
No soldiers march in heavy boots.
No occupying army enters uninvited.
We fear not for the safety of children at play
or grown-ups walking by on daily rounds.
·
I lead a quiet – almost silent life with
occasional interruptions from Madison Ave
selling me eternal youth – Too Late! Too Late!
and social status – Long Gone! Don’t Care!
And sandwiched between ads for plastic bags,
pre-fabricated foods, and Saturday’s sales
there are reports of tortured deaths in foreign lands
presented in measured tones, spanning a heartbeat
followed by the glossy gossip that passes for news
delivered with such breathless, detailed urgency
my interest is almost – not quite – engaged.
·
I lead a mostly quiet – almost silent life
but for the scratching of my poet’s pen
scratching, scratching, trying, trying
to make sense of it all – Too Late! Too Late!
Like the gentle dove – Too Soft! Too Soft!
Much too soft to make a difference.

What an irony of my life
Just to be another’s wife
Umpteen tests undertaken
So that identities aint mistaken
Every one that comes in front
Impolite and outright blunt
Moment they lay eyes on me
Flock my patio hopping in glee
Unabashed youth here none
I still await my perfect one
Wonder how many more kisses to blow
Till I find my one, who would show
His Princely-ness, Chivalry and candor
My perfect knight in shining armor..
When shall thou come O prince..?
When shall my true love win..?

Title of the Poem: The Final Analysis
It’s been quite a while,
Since Love played the guile.
Leaving her feeling like a dried up tablet,
Forgotten on a shelf, past it’s expiry date.
Still at times the much battered heart beats madly,
Making her wonder, albeit a bit crazily.
Did Love really die from pangs of starvation,
Or, was the final prognosis an acute case of indigestion?

my heart knows can’t be sought
so i’ll just say
the only thing i know is true
you are my inspiration

Apples and pears, the doctor does say.
What do you want them for?
I need money to survive these harsh days
Don’t contribute to my downfall

Nutrients and vigor is what you claim.
What evidence have you
That they shall keep me away?
A pesky couplet i’ll put an end to!

Oh doctor is see.
How very silly of me,
To listen to health fanatics,
Who infest my T.V

Well let’s not heave ourselves overboard
Health is my sport.
Pill popping and consultations,
Are my expert retort.

Hmm, but what use is sport,
If you get hit by a bus?
Or fall off a cliff edge,
By a winds fateful gust.

You seem to forget.
The examination is set.
My fee many hundreds
I’ll take cash or check.

Title of the Poem: Shaded In Love
He tousled my long flowing hair
And then played with a strand
I sensed a start to this affair
‘Twas Heaven here, on land
I was reborn…
He ran his hand over my brow
To his warm touch, I froze
My eyes saw his desire grow
I simpered and went rose
I was shy…
His fingers traced along my lips
My mind went weak and light
I wanted to taste him in sips
And sing in wild delight
I was ecstatic…
He let some water droplets fall
Placed some on my shoulder
I stood beneath the waterfall
Behind a strong boulder
I was soaked…
He looked at me, his work of art
And wished I were alive
Felt no beat in my paper heart
On his easel, I would thrive
I was… I just was…

Understand; Everything you say is
Special.
Dearest
You’ll always be
To me, for my love grows
Everyday, and will keep multiplying
Forever.
Because
I love you for
Who you are; you can be
Yourself with me; You’ll never have
To change.
I’d be
With you in every
Single thing you do, Never
Coming in the way of your heart. I
Love you.

My eyes close moistened with tears
I ache for a vision of you in my dreams
I wanted to see you in my awareness
But I only see others
In these pressing crowds, I feel alone
So I welcome sleep
I pray the Master Dream weaver will send me to you
To be intertwined in floating beautifulness
Where things of the heart paint the skies
And bring to blossom the land beneath
Every day, you fill more parts of my heart
I cannot fight it
I will not fight it
I surrender willingly to the journey
Even if it is only in the realm of dreams
The dream settles me always by a beach
Where my vivid thoughts of you swim through my mind
As I sit along the white sands by the Tasi
Master Dream weaver whispers:
“Your heart now resides on the shores of Knysna”
I hope the morning does not come soon…..

Title of the Poem: Don’t Drive Slowly Through the Dark Night
Just some fun with Dylan Thomas:
Do not drive slowly throughout the dark night,
Old ladies driving, blocking up the way;
Race, race against the changing of the light.
A semi-truck turning towards the right,
Its giant body keeping cars at bay
Do not drive slowly throughout the dark night.
A Cadillac its headlights on too bright,
Thus blinding you and causing you delay
Race, race against the changing of the light.
Mini vans in front hindering your flight,
All traffic laws they feel they must obey
Do not drive slowly throughout the dark night.
Your home ahead and almost within sight
Oh why must traffic be so dense today?
Race, race against the changing of the light.
Your patience now has reached its greatest height
But finally you make it home to stay.
Do not drive slowly throughout the dark night.
Race, race against the changing of the light.

Title of the Poem: Unviewed Spectacle
See here! Enjoy the dichotomy of the brilliant
As humans we forgo capabilities both pure and ill
Here we lay, sentient beings of limitless potential
Rotting away, decomposing, polluting at will
A parasite on our hostess, poor dear mother earth
We continue our prodigal expenditure.
On a withering rock, mistakenly given us birth
We suck the tit; we have yet to mature.
The Universe knows this and turns away
Abandoned us on the Milky-Way
Praying profusely that we might,
Not discover interstellar flight
It need not worry, our brilliance has peaked
And only of ghettoes and corpses we’ll reek
A fruit past its prime and a miserably story
We’re fast to decompose, we’re in a hurry
A sink for the once believed brilliant thoughts
Our fallible culture will finally rot.
Through a box we become bland
Ensuring the devolution of free-will
And –
Nothingness

Satiny-smooth, your dark myth
is a fruit
of human’s quest for pleasure.
Gliding, on my lips, my tongue
resilient, fluid,
from liquid to solid you change.
*
Lovers praised you,
Your dark, tanned complexion
Smooth, shiny body
Serenade and poetry in
full flavor. Aphrodisiac,
seducing as the Goddess herself.
*
There’s no shine and aroma
that promised palatial
contentment
such as yours, O divine
harvest of the Gods.
*
Mysterious, potent chocolate
Are you forever a happy ending?
Many have known you for your bitter after-taste.
*
In the end,
You need sugar, caramel, fudge, Ganache, praline, fondant,
Et cetera et cetera
to compliment you.
And the purity of pallid cream and milk
to smooth down your dark edges.

Cry till you’re free
Dream till you can’t sleep…
Live for the simplest of things
pushing all your expectations away
But live life for you
and no one else
Chuck away a friend who dumped you
mourn and find another…
There’s nothing more special
than this moment now…
If someone tries to push you around
smile and grow roots
far into the ground
You are stronger than you look
Love like you’ve never loved before
Don’t be afraid of being hurt
Its all part of being Human
All part of the game called Life

Title of the Poem: hover, 2006
60mph northbound into town
both palms damp on the wheel
a fast pearl jam song churns
spills thick and loud
from four speakers
bounces from pane to pane
captured within glass
sound crashes in my thirsty ears
pierces deep into my guts
incense smoke drifts up
from the dashboard
(a thin stick wedged
in the panel below the a.c.
drops ash to the carpet)
and my foot presses down
with urgency matching the song
surging now to 70mph
then i hover motionless
above the highway
the car caught in freeze-frame
as everything else slides by.
the road beneath moves as water
and the fields float as clouds
past my eyes that stare blankly ahead
disbelieving and entranced.
the world falls away
and i am rising
out of my self
lifted without form into the sky
expanding high above the earth
and flowing with impossible speed
i burn toward the sun.

Changing any ordinary day to an extraordinary experience
On this day you took a pause when you saw me
Paused like you were awed by me
Hugged me a little longer than necessary
Drank me in like ten-year old wine
And in the middle of this special day
You held me in your arms
Cupped my cheeks in your hands
Got real close and breathed my breath
I waited for the kiss that was sure to come
But you stood there
Me on my tiptoes
Reaching up to you
Hips to my hips
Chest to my breast
Mouth slightly open
And the world stopped
Took a little pause
Celebrated what we have
Took a collective sigh of applause
It was the change that made my day a special day
That special three-minute pause

Title of the Poem: for My Country
It’s great to live in a country big and strong
It doesn’t matter if you are young or old
Our thoughts are as good as gold
Where we go on land or sea
We can always be happy and free
Free to express our thoughts and then
Even express them over again
To different people no matter what color or race
In India for them there is always a place
An unique country,
one which requires a special taste,
the one which I live in,
a country we can’t waste.
I love her special feeling,
one which I can’t describe,
I love her special home,
open for all to arrive.
I love my country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!
People of great devotion to God
Human beings whose journey blends to survive
In every details of life, across the globe
Love of others is their deep expression of care
Near and far, across the seas and beyond the mountains
Even unto the skies their legacy is penned
So as too, to be remembered
As the pearl of the orient .
I’ll get down on both my knees and bend
To thank God I am an Indian
In a country great and grand
Who wants to be anywhere else
Except in India where we can do so much expand
India will always be my land.

Fleeting thoughts of moonlight
walks on the beach,
Sweet and wistful

And my loves lingering
sugary kisses on my lips,
as we dissolved our
boundaries in mutual bliss
one golden summer day.
Our summer romance,
all gone too quickly
as I watch this summer go,
too soon the cooler winds of change
echo — Come it is time to go
bringing different colors, different shades,
gone will be the blush of roses,
as leaves turn scarlet and golden
tell them my love
how you have tasted
summers savory delights
thoughts of your sensual kisses linger,
but our summer passions dimmer,
I will leave you behind,
without an embracing goodbye,
before the seasons change,

Title of the Poem: Freedom Chain
How can I make a difference in a world full of woe
in a world that’s ever-changing, I’m searching high to know
Still a dreamer, dreaming in hope, of a way
to make some vastly everlasting mark today
A change that inspires; a change that lights a spark
One that catches like wildfire, to pull us out of the dark
The only answer that seems true is to make love, to give love
to be love and to live love, starting with each day anew
I know it can’t be done alone, it is so much bigger than me
But together we can join and so set the world free
So, come with me now; hold onto my hand
Turn to the one next to you, help them up to a stand
Make a chain of love, it will be so much stronger than
sorrow or grief, anger or despair; as you bind tightly with your fellowman
Let your goal be one of forgiveness for all the sad hurts of the past
Move forward in hope toward a love that will last
Love first, your God, your significant other
Love your beautiful children, your sisters and your brothers
Love and be kind to the creatures; love this great, grand earth
Love the sky above and the glistening sea; cherish fully your own birth
Give back more, for every single thing you take
Be thankful for each morning as you again, awake
Love this life with all your tender heart; really live this life in your own best way
It could erase all hatred and cease then, all wars, holding evil’s tightly gripped hand at bay
So, I’ll begin my difference-making right now, today
I’ll start by extending my hand in love, your way
Come with me now

Title of the Poem: Love and Peace
We were there, you and I
Long before time existed
We were the promise made
Before the mountains formed
We were the memory of beauty
Before the sun ever rose
Somehow they buried us
Beneath the ruins of poverty and war
They tried to say we didn’t matter
That the world didn’t need us
They hardened their hearts
And rolled up their shirt sleeves
They mangled us in the political system
And trampled us in the name of religion
But some still feel our warmth
And they pray for our safety
The moon will stand still
And the waters will sweep by
Yet we shall remain

Title of the Poem: Good Night, Dear People
Life on its tipsy scales
Tips to left and right on rails..
Holding onto our beliefs
We clutch the hollow joys & griefs
Till a day arrives when sun
Shines through, all thoughts undone
That Moved at the pace of snail
That life is turned on its tail
Topsy turvy tumbling haywire
Yet smiling, fulfilling all desire
Till then we prod, quietly we hum
Trodding along a path unsung
Awaiting for the tides to arrive
Till then we slog, for that we strive
The moon to shine blue or bright
And letting its magic act that night
For the Day to let enter the true light
Alight sweet dreams, Ahoy! Goodnight

Title of the Poem: Heaven’s Gate
the words stopped flowing
tears flooded my face
i was speechless
my heart was heavy
pain tore it apart…
the dreaded news came
you passed away and joined our Creator
was it just a day after
i debated with myself
if i’d go see you on your deathbed…
i was crying as i rushed to see you
only to miss that turn when i was near
as cowardice gripped me
i told myself, “tomorrow”
for i needed to collect my thoughts…
but tomorrow proved too far
for someone who was in great pain
you didn’t even live to see the next sunlight
that broke through
your window pane that morning…
when i finally found the courage to see you
you were in a deep solemn slumber
wiping away all traces of pain
that devoured your body and spirit
looking beautiful as ever…
hard as it is to say goodbye
we know it is only for now
and take comfort in knowing
that you are at heaven’s gate
waving at us with a big smile…

Title of the Poem: My Gift
My gift to you is intangible but, very overt.
It cannot be measured yet, at some point you can gauge its worth.
It can most be seen as a basket of: comfort, little joys, laughter and love.
My gift is my eyes,
to look at you kindly when you most need it,
to stare at you when you have done something inappropriate.
My gift is my lips,
to say the words you most wanted to hear,
and even say the words you wouldn’t accept.
My gift is my shoulders,
for you to lean on when you need support.
and to give you a nudge when you seem at lost of what to do.
My gift is my arms,
to hug you,
in tears and in smiles.
Or just because.
My gift is my two hands,
to hold yours when you feel cold and alone,
and to wipe your stubborn tears.
My gift to you is my two feet,
to walk miles with you,
definite or unknown destinations.
And my most precious gift to you,
Is my heart.
That sees the good in you,
That speaks my sisterly love (for I lack blood-related one)
That tells me to be there even in silence
That will go with you all the way, despite my physical absence.
That will never falter, even when the world turned its back.
Those are my gifts,
And my promise
That I will forever keep.

Title of the Poem: paranoia
In the beginning, she was invincible
A bullet proof Kevlar vest, nothing could touch her
She could not be broken, believing in herself, her dreams
Always knowing she could do anything, the world was hers up for grabs
All she needed was to take command, of herself, her presence, her everything
One she accomplished this she could do anything,
Then one day she heard the voice loud, speaking into her quiet mind
The demon had found its way inside,
Demanding control over all her actions, thoughts, speaking of conspiracy plots
Telling her, she must obey; always do exactly what they say
Taking a backseat in her mind, no other options but to go along for the ride
To a destination unknown at the time would be to a place so deep inside
Foreign and unknown to her, a place where darkness began to stir,
It finally happened, all at once and suddenly,
forgetting who she used to be
That is the day the voice took over, being the demons turn to control her
Inside, the demon she did dread, sending vibrations through her head,
In the deepness inside her, the demon was bad; she must have known she was going mad
Everyone peering, poking, and looking inside, the way out would be impossible to find
Would she forever be trapped and paranoid, never knowing how to fill the void?
Only a memory, a thought, or perception of what used to be,
Is that all there is left of me?

Title of the Poem: Struggle
I remember what they said:
I’d never get ahead
And I wouldn’t be much
Because of who I was and where I was at
That I was black
And I would always have to use that
As a crutch
Dribble that ball and pray to get tall
Or write those rhymes
Learn that dance
Those are the skills that would give me a chance
And I better give this lesson to my unborn son
That’s what they said
That’s how it is if you’re where I’m from
In spite of that
I clawed and scratched
To get where I’m at
In spite of a system that would try to hold me back
And contain my potential
Put my dreams in a ball or pad and a pencil
I made it
Heart and soul, I gave it
Wasn’t around for X and King’s struggle
But I had my own version and fought it
Sought success and got it
Here I stand
Ready for what comes next
With a line drawn in the sand

Title: Blogging is fun when
Blogging Is Fun
When you focus on the art people have done,
When you introduce your friends to become mine,
When you offer comments as crispy as the rising sun,
When you laugh and giggle with a bottle of wine,
When you discover the magic in number 9,
When you greet your friends with kindness, one by one,
When your writing talent starts to shine,
When your post is gracefully done,
When you find the joy in praising the Divine,
When you learn how to tag someone
For friendship to form and begin.
Blogging is fun
When you fly instead of run,
When you are tickled by a potential fan,
When you offend absolutely NO ONE!
Blogging is fun
